Grand celebration in Pakistan after winning the 20 20 Worldcup !!

The Pakistan reverberated with fireworks as people thronged onto the streets to celebrate the national team’s victory in the Twenty20 World Cup, a rare moment of joy for Pakistani citizens amid continuous blood bath.

Heavy fireworks went off as soon as the last run was scored with people chanting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ and ‘Pakistan cricket team zindabad’ as the national team won its first World title after 1992.

It is a historic moment for all of us. Younis and his boys could not have given the Pakistani people a more appropriate gift at this time.

The victory comes at a time when Pakistan is struggling to cope with rising militancy and terrorist attacks with a full scale military operation against the militants going in the Swat valley and some other tribal areas.

We have been waiting for two long years for this sweet moment. It was heartbreaking when we lost to India in the last final. Today our players have given us lot to celebrate about.

We are proud of our team as they gave us a rare moment of joy,

Youngsters attired in green T-shirts and holding posters of Shahid Afridi poured onto the streets with many of them using motorbike horns to express their delight. Since the start of

the match, the streets remained deserted as people were glued to the television either at home or private clubs, parks, restaurants, elite coffee shops and tea stalls as people remained engrossed in the action with every wicket and boundary being cheered loudly.

There were also corner gatherings on the streets where people huddled around their mobile phone-cum-radios to listen to the match commentary. Eateries that were showing the match were brimming with people. It seemed that every single person in the city was tuned in to watch or hear Pakistan do what seemed impossible only little over a week ago, ‘Ooh’-ing and ‘Aah’-ing to each ball of the match, and when the moment came, the city erupted into intense celebration.

We have a tradition of hosting our guests and Sunday’s final was watched by hundreds of people outside our house,

The city came to a standstill, with many major roads looking even emptier than they usually are on a Sunday. There were a host of gatherings — both big and small, at homes and in commercial set ups — where people eagerly collected to watch the final together.

Immediately after the victory, the jubilant youth of the city, along with a fair number of families, thronged Sea View in the hundreds to begin the festivities. The flag-waving youth blocked the streets, dancing in celebration, creating a log-jam along the road. However, given the circumstances, this was a jam that many did not mind being in. “Pakistan Zindabad” reverberated through the area. Witnesses said that the scenes were mesmerising.

People danced in the streets late into the night after following the match played in London, watching on big screens set up in parks and stadiums across the country.

A sense of joy, seemingly extinct from this megacity for time out of mind, permeated through the air. For this night, Karachi seemed to have forgotten all its troubles. :)

Everyone is thrilled. Facebook feed page looks more like cricket.com and twitter is boasting our country’s win, not to forget tons of texts on cellphones. Streets of Karachi have also witnessed the pinnacle of joy, bhangras and celebration.

Cellular companies said their SMS and call services had been flooded after the final with people exchanging congratulatory calls and text messages.

“Our lines are choked but we expecting this,” said Shahzad a customer services officer at a cellular company.

It is a big step forward for Pakistan cricket. To win the World Cup at a time when Pakistan cricket has also been hit by security issues is a big tribute to our players. Younis Khan deserves a lot of credit for uniting the team into a fighting unit.

Pakistan cricket team’s only other triumph at the world stage came way back in 1992 when they lifted the 50-overs World Cup under Imran Khan’s captaincy. This is the greatest moment in Pakistan cricket, greater than 1992 because people (are now) in gloom and previously had nothing to cheer about.

We have been hearing bad news for the last many month with TV channels full of bloody events but today we have got a good news and enjoy sharing it with each other,” cricket lovers said. Record celebrations were witnessed across the country after 1992 Cricket World Cup victory

The people have been passing through tough times and our cricket has also been facing tough times, this is something we needed very badly. The team really built up their campaign very well and gained momentum at the right time
Ramiz praised Shahid Afridi for his stellar performance in both the semifinal and final and said the all-rounder had finally delivered for his millions of fans.

He played beautifully in the big matches. He clearly looked like someone who wanted to accomplish this feat

“We are proud of you,” Zardari said in a statement. “You have given a moment of joy… and the whole nation is celebrating the win. he announced a cash prize of 500,000 rupees (6,500 US dollars) for each member of the winning team and double that for Afridi, the final’s player of the match with an unbeaten 54

The country is proud of their superb team play, which held aloft Pakistan?s flag in the field of cricket

Thanks to Pakistani team for uniting the country at such times of turmoil and giving us a reason to cheer. Treat for Fathers especially at their special day ;)

This is our Pakistan :)
